Vava'u Public Library off to a great start in 2010

The Vava'u Public Library has had an exciting start to 2010, which is our 27th year of operation in Vava'u.  The Library exists to serve the people of Vava'u, particularly students.  We have computers, a reference section; a large number of children's and books for young youth, and finally, a lot of novels and other books for adult readers.

We are open Tuesday to Friday from 12 noon to 5 p.m.  On Saturday, we are open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  All people are invited to visit the Library.

Fees for yearly membership are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.

 ABOUT US

The Vava'u Public Library, here in Neiafu, is the oldest non-church, non-goverment organization on the island. We celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2008. Sadly we are the only public library in the Kingdom of Tonga.
We owe our continued existence US Peace Corps, small grants from NZAid, Rotary clubs and, above all, from the continuing support of local businesses, residents and visitors to the island.

Situated opposite the Post Office in the shade of a huge banyan tree the library houses over 3000 works of fiction - including a bestsellers section, over 1000 children's books and 1500 non-fiction and reference books.
