Every June at the beginning of the winter school holiday we hold a 'Fun Day' for the children of the islands. The stalls and games and sponsored by local bunisses who also donate the prizes. This year over 100 children came.
Library Fun Day
On May 21st, 2011, The Vava’u Public Library, located in the heart of Neiafu, held a library fundraiser called Library Fun Day. It was held at the back of the library. Children and adults came from all over Vava’u Lahi to attend and support the Public Library.
The fundraiser consisted of the selling of drinks, cakes and even a bbq of hotdogs! Music played from all directions throughout the event. There was a multitude of games, such as sponge toss, face painting, bean-bag toss, golfing and more. Each game cost fifty cents to one dollar. If a child won a game, he/she collected a ticket. At the end of the fundraiser, the children could collect a prize from their collected tickets at the Prize Table.
In addition to these games, there was a second-hand table and a drawing competition for VEPA. At the end of the fundraiser, VEPA presented a short puppet show about the importance of picking up trash and recycling in Tonga. All in all, it was a great day for everyone!
