Don Blanks is from Carmel, California. He holds an MA in administration and a BA in Education. Together with his wife, Norie, he founded the Vava'u Public Library twenty-five years ago. For the last four years he has held the position of Co-ordinator of the Vava'u Centre of the University of the South Pacific.
Norie Blanks was born in New Jersey and received a BSc from Oregon State University. In 1987 she began teaching sciences at Vava'u High School, eventually becoming Head of the science department and Deputy Principal. She still teaches the senior physics class and is also Science Co-odinator at the Vava'u Branch of USP.
Sandra Gross was born in Scotland and came to Tonga from New Zealand with her husband Henk. She has a BSc and held the post of Head of the science department at Tonga High Schoool in Nukualofa. Henk and Sandra moved to Vava'u in 1997 where she was appointed HOD at Vava'u High School, teaching biology and chemistry

Nigel Evans comes from the UK. In 1996, after a twenty-five year career making documentaries for the BBC, he retired and went back to university, graduating with a BA in Community Crae Management. He then spent three eyars working with immigrant communities in West London. With the publication of his first book he came to Tonga to write his second and stayed. He is a Peabody Award winner and a Churchill Fellow.
